Turnage’s new opera: Anna Nicole: September 19, 2011
On February 17, 2011, London's Royal Opera House premiered Mark-Anthony Turnage's provocative bio-opera, Anna Nicole – based on the controversial life of Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith. Our friends at Naxos have generously offered visitors to Classical Archives an exclusive preview to the full-length video of this new opera, now available from Opus Arte. The opera, featuring Turnage’s typically lively and jazz-infused score, has received some mixed reviews from the critics, but has been wildly embraced by its audiences. Tell us what you think: is the life of Anna Nicole Smith a suitable topic for an opera? Does this video preview make you want to see it? And if you’ve already seen the opera, what did you think? Let us know!
